Atmosphere "Sunshine"

Ain't no way to explain or say
How painful the hangover was today
In front of the toilet, hands and knees
Trying to breathe in between the dry heaves
My baby made me some coffee
Afraid that if I drink some it's probably coming right back out me
Couple of advil, relax and chill
At a standstill with how bad I feel
I think I need to smell fresh hair
So I stepped out the back door and fell down the stairs
The sunlight hit me dead in the eye
Like it's mad I gave half the day to last night
My bad sight made me trip on my ass right into that patch of grass like that's life
All of a sudden, I realize something
The weather is amazing, even the birds are bumpin
Stood up and took a look and a breath
And there's that bike that I forgot that I possessed
Never really seen exercise as friendly
But I thing something's telling me to ride that slow speed
The brakes are broken, it's alright
The tires got air and the chain seems tight
Hopped on and felt the summertime,
It reminds me of one of them Musab lines like

[Chorus 2X]

Sunshine, sunshine, it's fine
I feel it in my skin, warming up my mind,
Sometimes you gotta give in to win,
I love the days when it shines, whoa let it shine

If I could I would keep this feeling in a plastic jar
Bust it out whenever someone's actin hard
Settle down, barbeque in the backyard
The kids get treats and old folks get classic cars
Every day that gets to pass is a success
Every woman looks better in a sun dress
The sunshine's an excuse to shoot hoops, get juice
Show improve their moves and let loose
I hear voices, I see smiles to match em
Good times and you can feel it in the fashion
Even though the heat cooks up the action
The streets still got butterflies
Enough kids to catch 'em
Ridin my bike around these lakes man
Feelin like I finally figured out my escape plan
Take it all and the day started off all wrong
Somehow now that hangover is all gone
Ain't nothing like the sound of the leaves
When the breeze penetrates these southside trees
Leanin' up against one, watchin the vibe
Forgettin' all about the stress, thanking god I'm alive
It's so simple, I had to keep the song simple
When I get home I'm gonna open all the windows
Feelin all right, stopped at a stop sign
A car pulled up, bumpin Fresh Prince's Summertime

[Chorus 2X]

e agora..Fausto
A nova brigada dos coronéis de lápis-azul

I
nós somos
a nova-brigada-dos-coronéis-
de-lápis-azul
perfilada em novos quartéis
fazemos o cadastro
toda a folha do artista
se de mau cantor não passa
o péssimo vocalista

a mais doce palavra
sempre é mais subversiva
na sua boca alarve
ainda mais superlativa
feito de casca grossa
mesmo de baixa extracção
altamente decilitrado
sem regra nem excepção

II
nós somos
a nova-brigada-dos-coronéis-
de-lápis-azul
perfilada em novos quartéis
aguçada na ponta
que mais risca esses papéis
escritos pelos “contras”
contra a lei dos bacharéis

e se a censura aviva
a morte do criador
banido da pantalha
cedo morre esse cantor
e calado na rádio
apagado nos jornais
vai-se à vida a voz canora
há-de morrer um pouco mais

III
e um pouco mais há-de morrer

há-de morrer ainda
se lhe arrojarmos à cabeça
um prémio desta maneira
vai ele direito à carreta
e de ventas às torneiras
e não serão decretados
três dias de luto a mais
mas um só dia de fados
de alegrias nacionais

nós somos
a nova-brigada-dos-coronéis-
de-lápis-azul
perfilada em novos quartéis"

Nat King Cole Pretend

Pretend you're happy when you're blue
It isn't very hard to do
And you'll find happiness without an end
Whenever you pretend

Remember anyone can dream
And nothing's bad as it may seem
The little things you haven't got
Could be a lot if you pretend

You'll find a love you can share
One you can call all your own
Just close your eyes, she'll be there
You'll never be alone

And if you sing this melody
You'll be pretending just like me
The world is mine, it can be yours, my friend
So why don't you pretend?

And if you sing this melody
You'll be pretending just like me
The world is mine, it can be yours, my friend
So why don't you pretend?

Garbage "You Look So Fine"

You look so fine
I want to break your heart
And give you mine
You're taking me over

It's so insane
You've got me tethered and chained
I hear your name
And I'm falling over

I'm not like all the other girls
I can't take it like the other girls
I won't share it like the other girls
That you used to know

You look so fine

Knocked down
Cried out
Been down just to find out
I'm through living for you

I'm open wide
I want to take you home
We're wasting time
You're the only one for me

You look so fine
I'm like the desert tonight
Leave her behind
If you want to show me

I'm not like all the other girls
I won't take it like the other girls
I won't fake it like the other girls
That you used to know

You're taking me over
Over and over
I'm falling over
Over and over

Loving me one more time
Hide inside me tonight
Do what you want to do
Just pretend happy end
Let me know let it show
Ending with letting go (three times)
Let's pretend happy end (four times)

Buck 65 "Rough House Blues"

"Going down the road feeling bad, bye-and-bye
Deep fried blues, but I'd rather die than cry
Gas station food bound to go stale soon
There's a curse in the air and a toe-nail moon

Yay, some of these towns are still non-friendly
And this is the hammer that killed John Henry
I'm sick of being tired, sick of the circus life
Here daydreaming of a waitress as a perfect wife

Utterly inappropriate, and taken out of context
Degenerate nervousness, developing a complex
No good with money, leftovers in a bitch bag
Fryin' pan soul, my face like a dishrag
A million old movies, I figured I'd tell
Childhood memories triggered by smell

So now what, you may ask, well that's hard to say
'Cause that old jack of diamonds is a tough card to play

All the wrong reasons, just another skull to crack
Askin' the dust, I'm stuck in a cul-de-sac
It may sound silly but to me the threat is very real
So that's why I sing love songs and carry steel

Women and warfare, roaches and roadkills
No easy answers, no deadlines and no frills
Catchin' your drift, receivin' the warning
Packin' my things, I leave in the morning

Drive all night, I'm goin' to see my friend
One day this highway will be my end
Now the hills are alive and the motor is dead
That man has a zero floating over his head

I follow my instincts, sometimes follow dogs
Drink muddy water, sleep inside hollow logs

So now what, you may ask, well that's hard to say
'Cause that old jack of diamonds is a tough card to play"

Depeche Mode
"Precious"

Precious and fragile things
Need special handling
My God what have we done to you
We always tried to share
The tenderest of care
Now look what we have put you through

Things get damaged
Things get broken
I thought we'd manage
But words left unspoken
Left us so brittle
There was so little left to give

Angels with silver wings
Shouldn't know suffering
I wish I could take the pain for you
If God has a master plan
That only He understands
I hope it's your eyes He's seeing through

Things get damaged
Things get broken
I thought we'd manage
But words left unspoken
Left us so brittle
There was so little left to give

I pray you learn to trustHave faith in both of us
And keep room in your hearts for two

Things get damaged
Things get broken
I thought we'd manage
But words left unspoken
Left us so brittle
There was so little left to give

Aimee Mann "Dear John"

Cotton candy was king
On the midway that spring
When I saw you in the ring on the lawn

Dear John
Throwing kisses so Richmond's unfortunates can go on

Oh, the lectures I gave
So the girls would behave
While the band played all your favorite songs

Dear John
Throwing kisses so Richmond's unfortunates can go on

But numbers come up and you're left to the fates
Though I always thought you were one of the greats
Once somebody stationed in Kuala Lumpur
Said he thought you went out, but he couldn't be sure

And the midway I knew
Where the sky was so blue
With the memory of you is gone

Dear John
Throwing kisses so Richmond's unfortunates can go on
Throwing kisses so Richmond's unfortunates can go on
Throwing kisses so Richmond's unfortunates can go on
Throwing kisses so Richmond's unfortunates can go on
Throwing kisses so Richmond's unfortunates can go on

Donna Maria "Foi Deus" (original de Amália Rodrigues)

Não sei, não sabe ninguém
Por que canto o Fado
Neste tom magoado
De dor e de pranto
E neste tormento
Todo o sofrimento
Eu sinto que a alma
Cá dentro se acalma
Nos versos que canto

Foi Deus
Que deu luz aos olhos
Perfumou as rosas
Deu oiro ao sol
E prata ao luar
Foi Deus que me pôs no peito
Um rosário de penas
Que vou desfiando
E choro a cantar
E pôs as estrelas no céu
E fez o espaço sem fim
Deu o luto às andorinhas
Ai, e deu-me esta voz a mim

Se canto
Não sei o que canto
Misto de ventura
Saudade ternura
E talvez amor
Mas sei que cantando
Sinto o mesmo quando
Se tem um desgosto
E o pranto no rosto
Nos deixa melhor

Foi Deus
Que deu voz ao vento
Luz ao firmamento
E deu o azul às ondas do mar
Foi Deus
Que me pôs no peito
Um rosário de penas
Que vou desfiando
E choro a cantar
Fez poeta o rouxinol
Pôs no campo o alecrim
Deu as flores à primavera
Ai, e deu-me esta voz a mim.

I Am Kloot "Over My Shoulder"

Shut your mouth and watch my lips
Can't you feel the healing fingertips
Coming down on you like rain
So tell me now whether we remain

Over my shoulder it goes
And where it lands, you don't want to know

I used to work night and day
Nobody listened to a word I'd say
I didn't care you knew me then
Someone stupid asked if we were friends, when...

Over my shoulder it goes
Back to a bar, that we both used to know

Shut your mouth and watch my lips
Can't you feel the healing fingertips
Coming down on you like rain
So tell me now whether we remain

Over my shoulder it goes
And where it lands, you don't want to know

Over my shoulder it goes
And where it lands, you don't want to know

The Postal Service "We Will Become Silhouettes"

I've got a cupboard with cans of food, filtered water,
And pictures of you and i'm not coming out
Until this is all over
And i'm looking through the glass where the light bends
At the cracks
And i'm screaming at the top of my lungs pretending
The echoes belong to someone
Someone i used to know

And we become silhouettes when our bodies finally go
Ba ba ba...

I wanted to walk through the empty streets
And feel something constant under my feet,
But all the news reports recommended that
I stay indoors
Because the air outside will make our cells
Divide at an alarming rate until our shells
Simply cannot hold all our insides in,
And that's when we'll explode
(and it won't be a pretty sight)

And we'll become silhouettes when our bodies finally go
Ba ba ba...
And we'll become silhouettes when our bodies finally go
Ba ba ba...
And we'll become silhouettes when our bodies finally go
Ba ba ba...
And we'll become silhouettes when our bodies finally go
Ba ba ba...
And we'll become
And we'll become

The Killers "Somebody Told Me"

Breaking my back just to know your name
Seventeen tracks and I've had it with this game
I'm breaking my back just to know your name
But heaven ain't close in a place like this
Anything goes but don't blink you might miss
Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this
I said heaven ain't close in a place like this
Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight
Never thought I'd let a rumour ruin my moonlight

Well somebody told me
You had a boyfriend
Who looks like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It's not confidential
I've got potential

Ready? Let's roll onto something new
Taking its toll and I'm leaving without you
Ready? Let's roll onto something new
But heaven ain't close in a place like this
Anything goes but don't blink you might miss
Cause heaven ain't close in a place like this
I said heaven ain't close in a place like this
Bring it back down, bring it back down tonight
Never thought I'd let a rumour ruin my moonlight

Well somebody told me
You had a boyfriend
Who looks like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It's not confidential
I've got potential
A rushin', a rushin' around

Pace yourself from me
I said maybe baby please
But I just don't know now
Somebody told me
You had a boyfriend
Who looks like a girlfriend
That I had in February of last year
It's not confidential
I've got potential
A rushin', a rushin' around

Cartoon Nostalgia

THE VISIONARIES

"It is a time when magic is more powerful than science and only those who control the magic control destiny. They are the Visionaries.
Visionaries!

Knights of the magical light!
Visionaries!
With magical powers they fight!
Powers of life and strength, skill and speed
Powers to accomplish the greatest of deeds!
Visionaries!
Knights of the magical light!"

CLÉMENTINE

"Clémentine, quand tu fermes les yeux
Tu devines le merveilleux
Clémentine, prend nous dans ta bulle bleue
Tant pis si c'est dangereux
Quand on a seulement 10 ans

Jay-Jay Johanson "A Letter To Lulu-Mae"

I decided one day to write you a letter and tell you how much I care
And about how it feels when you walk beside me and the joy of being a pair
I remember the day we got together I remember it like today
I was struck by lightning that's why I'm writing a letter to Lulu-Mae

You were standing on the porch as I drove up the driveway as lovely as one can be
You would make any man so greatful of living and you choose a man like me
Though I work all day and sometimes all evening I never had no complaints
We've been friends though fighting that's why I'm writing a letter to Lulu-Mae

I decided one day to write you a letter from my tent here in my platoon
You send me a poem
Quite hope I'll see you soon
From your Mr. Lonely
The one and only
A letter to Lulu-Mae

Lisa Germano "Trouble"

Bits and pieces of love for you, so sweet and simple yet
I'm frightened by the way you feel
Little by little you touch my heart, where they had touched it too
And as I smile, I catch myself
Trouble me or I'll go, trouble me with you
Spider, Spider, crawl on the lake, guilty and poison free
I wish that I could be like you
Trouble me or I'll go, yeah I'm human too
Over and over the need needs food will human weakness
And as I act I hate myself
Bits and pieces of love for you, so sweet and simple yet
I'm frightened by the way you feel
And as I act, I hate myself

The RZA "Ode To O-Ren Ishii"

Aiyo, I wanna dedicate this song right here to O-Ren Ishii
Half Chinese/Half Japane-see, Half American and yo
Oh what a specie, a feminine perfection
She got the sinister cat eyes and little freckles on her complexion
Cheaper than Yakuza, but she's wicked like Medusa
And she got Crazy 88 killers that'll slice right through ya
Quick to chop a head off then wipe the blood off
A long range sniper shot she bust, never let a dud off
You got a minute to pray and a second to die
You can see the image of the devil reflectin' inside her eye
But since she was a little girl, yo, she never would cry
She seen so much tragedy, let me explain to you why
She grew up on the military base, where she had to face
The brutality of her mother and her father being erased
The blood drops from her tear drops, on her face you see the smear spots

She silently watched, as the shogun sliced through her dear pops
Through his thick skull, now she's vicious like a pitbull
And when it comes to hatred, and revenge she got a shit full

Yo... revenge is that fire that burns inside your soul

Aiyo, she been bustin' off kneecaps, son, since the age of eleven
But fuckin' the enemy to death, uggh, that was her favorite weapon
And the death you paid in hell, boy, it can't be paid in heaven
You better got down on your knees, son, and start prayin' to the reverend
Bon appetit, boy, revenge is so sweet
Especially when it's served on a cold dish, but she has no wish
But to cut your day short like the winter soulstice
And a chance to receive a slight bit of mercy from her was hopeless
Oren Ishii, half Chinese/half Japane-see
Half American, muaww, yeah, oh what a species.

The Streets "Fit But You Know It"

See I reckon you're about an 8 or a 9,
Maybe even 9 and a half in four beers time.
That blue top shop top you've got on IS nice,
Bit too much fake tan though - but yeah you score high.

But theres just one little thing that really really,
Really really annoying me about you you see,
Yeah yeah like i said you are really fit
But my gosh don't you just know it

I'm not trying to pull you
Even though i would like to
I think you are really fit
You're fit But my gosh dont you know it

So when i looked at you standing there with your hoard,
I was waiting in the que looking at the board
Wondering whether to have a Burger or chips
Or what the shrapnel in my back pocket could afford
When i noticed out the corner of my eye
Looking toward my direction
Your eyes locked onto my course
I couldnt concentrate on what i wanted to order,
Which cost me my place in the queue i waited for YEAH

I'm not trying to pull you
Even though i would like to
I think you are really fit
You're fit But my gosh dont you know it

Whoa! Leave it out
Are you smoking something?
Leave it Out
Mike just leave it just leave it
We cannot have that behaviour in this establishment
S'not worth it mike, just leave it
Dont Touch Me, S'not Worth It
Dont Touch Me, D, Look Im Alright Dont Touch me

For a while there i was thinkin - yeah but what if?
Picturin' myself pullin with bare white hot wit
Snarin you as you were standing there opposite
Whether or not you knew it i swear you didnt tick
And when that bloke in the white behind us lot queuing
Was clockin onto you too yeah i had to admit
That yeah yeah you are fit,
And yeah i do want it,
But i stop sharkin' for a minute to get chips and drinks

I'm not trying to pull you
Even though i would like to
I think you are really fit
You're fit But my gosh dont you know it

Oy, just as you started to make your big advance
With the milkshake and that little doughnut in hand
I was like nah, even though you look grand
But you look sharp there smilin hard suggesting and
Gleaming away with your hearty hearty lookin tan
But i admit the next bit was spanner to my plan
You walked towards my path but just brushed right past
And into the arms of that white shirted man

I'm not trying to pull you
Even though i would like to
I think you are really fit
You're fit But my gosh dont you know it

Oh what do i give .. i've got a girlfirend anyway
(whoa, we've all had a drink mate)
We're all a bit drunk, yeah we've had a few fair play
I got this stella i bombed from that last cafe
This nights not even begun, yes yes oh yay

I did fancy you a bit though yeah i must say
I would rather i hadnt mugged myself on display
But this is just another case of female stopping play
On otherwise a total result of a holiday

I'm not trying to pull you
Even though i would like to
I think you are really fit
You're fit But my gosh dont you know it

Gosto bastante deste sotaque.

Phoenix "Too Young"

Baby when I saw you turning at the end of the street
I knew a time was gone and it took me like ages
Just to understand that I was afraid to be a simple guy
I tried my best to smile but deep inside my heart
I felt it was shouting like a crowd dancing
I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is

Can't you hear it calling oh yeah
Everybody's dancin' oh yeah
Tonight everything is over
I feel too young

I can't lie on my bed without thinking I was wrong
But when this feeling calls this world becomes another
Nighttime won't hold me in your arms again
I got a very good friend who says he can't believe the love I give
Is not enough to end your fears
I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is

Can't you hear it calling oh yeah
Everybody's shakin' oh yeah
Tonight everything is over
I feel too young

Oh rainfalls and hard times coming they won't leave me tonight
I wish I knew what I was doing
Just do let this spirit survive
Can't you hear me calling oh yeah
I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is

Can't you hear me calling oh yeah
Everybody's dancing oh yeah
Tonight everything is over
I feel too young

Kodama

"Kodama, are from what I can understand, little spirits or somethings that appear in old houses and forests. They are Japanese ghosts. They were made famous in the movie Princess Mononoke"

"Kodama's are tree spirits of various shapes and sizes who appear only in the dim light of the forest. Tree spirits inhabit many Japanese folk tales although Miyazaki's depiction of them as little white being is totally original. The sign of a good and healthy forest to some, they may frighten more timid souls"

GRRRR !!!!

Piano Magic "Saint Marie"

Primeira faixa do álbum The Troubled Sleep of Piano Magic, que foi lançado em 2003.

fantástica..

Out of season, out of heart, I cross you off beneath the stars
Autumn leaves a nasty scar and with the leaves, the heart departs
You're off the map, you've left the book
I'm off my head and treading luck
And it's too late to call you up
The heart migrates, it comes unstuck
I light a candle for Saint Marie, in the hope she never brings you back to me
I light a candle for Saint Marie, in the hope she never brings you back to me

all the times I've waited patiently for you
and you'll do just what you choose to do

somebody said to me
you know that I could be in love with almost everyone
i think that people are

Baccara "Yes Sir, I can boogie"

Mister
Your eyes are full of hesitation
Sure makes me wonder
If you know what you're looking for.
Baby
I wanna keep me reputation
I'm a sensation
You try me once, you'll beg for more.

Oh, Yes Sir, I can boogie
But I need a certain song.
I can boogie,
Boogie woogie
All night long.

Oh, Yes Sir, I can boogie
If you stay, you can't go wrong.
I can boogie,
Boogie woogie
All night long.

No Sir
I don't feel very much like talking
No, neither walking
You wanna know if I can dance.

Yes Sir
Already told you in the first verse
And in the chorus
But I will give you one more chance.

Yes Sir, I can boogie....

The Glove "Mouth To Mouth"

Your body grows more beautiful
With every move you make
Your body grows more beautiful
With every bite I take
You won't believe I love you
It's too stupid for words
So I lick your trembling lips
And use your hands to feed the birds

I laid with you for hours
Staring at your face
I laid with you for hours
Remembering your taste
And when the morning came
It splattered us in light
I think I left you sleeping there
I think I left you sleeping

Mouth to mouth - I asked you to stay
Mouth to mouth - But you're slipping away

Down seven stairs and first on the left
Arch your back and hold your breath
A million fat girls and a million fat men
Couldn't put me back together again

Your body grows so beautiful
With every move you make
Your body grows so beautiful
With every bite I take

A million fat girls and a million fat men
Couldn't put me back together again

Elliott Smith "Pretty (Ugly Before)"

sunshine, been keeping me up for days
there is no night time, it's only a passing phase
and i feel pretty, pretty enough for you
i felt so ugly before, i didn't know what to do

sometimes is all i feel up to now
but it's not worth it to you
cos you gotta get out somehow
it's the destruction that you require to feel
like somebody wants you, someone that's more for real

sunshine, been keeping me up for days
there is no night time, only a passing phase
and i'll feel pretty, another hour or two

i felt so ugly before, i didn't know what to do
i felt so ugly before, i didn't know what to do
i felt so ugly before, i didn't know what to do
ugly before

I Am Kloot "Proof"

hey, could you stand another drink
i'm better when I don't think
seems to get me through

say, d’you wanna spin another line
like we had a good time
not that I need proof

swell, we're living in a hotel
someone's ringing my bell
in a room without a view

hey, heard you read another book
should I take another look
who am I without you?

hey, could you stand another drink
i'm better when I don't think
seems to get me through

say d’you wanna spin another line
like we had a good time
not that I need proof

swell, we're living in a hotel
someone's ringing my bell
in a room without a view

hey, heard you read another book
should I take another look
who am I without you?

Joni Mitchell "Both Sides Now"

Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons ev’rywhere
I’ve looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on ev’ryone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It’s cloud illusions I recall
I really don’t know clouds at all

Moons and junes and ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As ev’ry fairy tale comes real
I’ve looked at love that way

But now it’s just another show
You leave ’em laughing when you go
And if you care, don’t let them know
Don’t give yourself away

I’ve looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It’s love’s illusions I recall
I really don’t know love at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say I love you right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I’ve looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I’ve changed
Well something’s lost, but something’s gained
In living ev’ry day

I’ve looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It’s life’s illusions I recall
I really don’t know life at all
I’ve looked at life from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It’s life’s illusions I recall
I really don’t know life at all

Keren Ann "Not Going Anywhere"

This is why I always wonder
I 'm a pond full of regrets
I always try to not remember rather than forget

This is why I always whisper
When vagabonds are passing by
I tend to keep myself away from their goodbyes

Tide will rise and fall along the bay
And I'm not going anywhere
I'm not going anywhere
People come and go and walk away
But I'm not going anywhere
I'm not going anywhere

This is why I always whisper
I'm a river with a spell
I like to hear but not to listen, I like to say but not to tell

This is why I always wonder
T here's boyhing new under the sun
I won't go anywhere so give my love to everyone

Tide will rise and fall along the bay
And I'm not going anywhere
I'm not going anywhere
People come and go and walk away
But I'm not going anywhere
I'm not going anywhere

Johnny Cash "Hurt"

I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
the needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
but I remember everything
what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
you could have it all
my empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
on my liar's chair
full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
beneath the stain of time
the feelings disappear
you are someone else
I am still right here
what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
you could have it all
my empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

if I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

Fausto "O Barco Vai de Saída"

O barco vai de saída
Adeus ao cais de Alfama
Se agora ou de partida
Levo-te comigo ó cana verde
Lembra-te de mim ó meu amor
Lembra-te de mim nesta aventura
P'ra lá da loucura
P'ra lá do Equador

Ah mas que ingrata ventura
Bem me posso queixar
da Pátria a pouca fartura
Cheia de mágoas ai quebra-mar
Com tantos perigos ai minha vida
Com tantos medos e sobressaltos
Que eu já vou aos saltos
Que eu vou de fugida

Sem contar essa história escondida
Por servir de criado essa senhora
Serviu-se ela também tão sedutora
Foi pecado
Foi pecado
E foi pecado sim senhor
Que vida boa era a de Lisboa

Gingão de roda batida
corsário sem cruzado
ao som do baile mandado
em terra de pimenta e maravilha
com sonhos de prata e fantasia
com sonhos da cor do arco-íris
desvaira se os vires
desvairas magias

Já tenho a vela enfunada
marrano sem vergonha
judeu sem coisa nem fronha
vou de viagem ai que largada
só vejo cores ai que alegria
só vejo piratas e tesouros
são pratas, são ouros,
são noites, são dias

Vou no espantoso trono das águas
vou no tremendo assopro dos ventos
vou por cima dos meus pensamentos
arrepia
arrepia
e arrepia sim senhor
que vida boa era a de Lisboa

O mar das águas ardendo
o delírio do céu
a fúria do barlavento
arreia a vela e vai marujo ao leme
vira o barco e cai marujo ao mar
vira o barco na curva da morte
e olha a minha sorte
e olha o meu azar

e depois do barco virado
grandes urros e gritos
na salvação dos aflitos
estala, mata, agarra, ai quem me ajuda
reza, implora, escapa, ai que pagode
rezam tremem heróis e eunucos
são mouros são turcos
são mouros acode!

Aquilo é uma tempestade medonha
aquilo vai p'ra lá do que é eterno
aquilo era o retrato do inferno
vai ao fundo
vai ao fundo
e vai ao fundo sim senhor
que vida boa era a de Lisboa

Nina Simone "Sinnerman (Felix Da Housecat Heavenly House Mix)"

Absolutamente FANTÁSTICA!

Letra da versão original:

Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to all on that day?

Run to the moon, 'Moon won't you hide me?'
Run to the sea, 'Sea won't you hide me?'
Run to the sun, 'Sun won't you hide me all on that day?'

Lord says, 'Sinner man, the moon'll be a bleeding.'
Lord says, 'Sinner man, the sea'll be a sinking.'
Lord says, 'Sinner man, the sun'll be a freezin' all on that day!'

Run to the Lord, 'Lord won't you hide me?'
Run to the Lord, 'Lord won't you hide me?'
Run, run, 'Lord won't you hide me all on that day?'

Lord says 'Sinner man, you should've been a praying.'
Lord says 'Sinner man, you should've been a praying.'
Lord says 'Sinner man, you should've been a praying all on that day.'

Nancy Sinatra "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)"

I was five and he was six
We rode on horses made of sticks
He wore black and I wore white
He would always win the fight

Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down

Seasons came and changed the time
When I grew up I called him mine
He would always laugh and say
Remember when we used to play

Bang bang, I shot you down
Bang bang, you hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, I used to shoot you down

Music played and people sang
Just for me the church bells rang

Now he's gone I dont know why
Until this day, sometimes I cry
He didn't even say goodbye
He didn't take the time to lie

Bang bang, he shot me down
Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down

in Público, 12/11/03

Skank "As Noites"

As ruas desse lugar
Conhecem bem
As noites longas, as noites pálidas
Quando eu te procurava

As casas desse lugar
Se lembrarão
Do nosso abraço, da sombra insólita
Espelho azul no chão

As ruas desse lugar
Agora eu sei
Sempre escutaram a nossa música
Quando eu te respirava

As pedras municipais
Se impregnaram
Da dupla imagem, da dupla solidão
A sombra ali no chão

E lá no céu constelações
Num arranjo inusitado
O seu nome desenhado
Pelo menos tinha essa ilusão

E lá no céu os astros
Num arranjo surpreendente
Se buscavam como a gente
Pelo menos tinha essa ilusão

São milhares de estrelas
Singulares letras vivas no céu

dEUS "Everybody's Weird"

So everybody came, but you're here to have some fun
And everyone's the same, well that's faster said than done.
And you're such a lovely guy but it doesn't take so much
to get all there is out, all the dirt and all the sludge.

You're stepping on my sun
and it's such a lot of fun
better smile before it's gone
you're stepping on my sun

And the liquor that you had
is playing twister with your mind
you been artificially sad
but never naturally high
I was flashing on a thought
on a party in this town
if I said what's on my mind
there'd be not a soul around.

You're stepping on my sun
and it's such a lot of fun
better smile before it's gone
you're stepping on my sun

It's easier to trust
if it comes down to this my friend
I will help you if I must
I will kill you if I can
experience is cheap
and you know that in the end
I will kill you if I must
I will help you if I can

You're stepping on my sun
and it's such a lot of fun
better smile before it's gone
you're stepping on my sun

Cause everybody's weird
and they all think they're God
but the biggest one they fear is that precious thing you got.
The fire in your eyes
is a subtlety I know
and you will not be denied
but the service is so slow

You're stepping on my sun
and it's such a lot of fun
better smile before it's gone
you're stepping on my sun

John Miles "Music"

Music was my first love
And it will be my last
Music of the future
And music of the past

To live without my music
Would be impossible to do
In this world of troubles
My music pulls me through

Music was my first love
And it will be my last
Music of the future
And music of the past
And music of the past
And music of the past

Music was my first love
And it will be my last
Music of the future
And music of the past

To live without my music
Would be impossible to do
'Cuz in this world of troubles
My music pulls me through

OVO "Barco do Amor (Cada Vez Melhor)"

Tiraram-me a febre, mediram-me o ar

Neste barco do amor

Tiraram-me a febre, mediram-me o ar

O peso do colete ajuda-me a descer
E o capacete ninguém mais o vai ver

Depeche Mode "Free Love"

If you’ve been hiding from love
If you’ve been hiding from love

If you’ve suffered enough
If you’ve suffered enough
I can understand what you’re thinking of
I can see the pain that you’re frightened of

And I’m only here
To bring you free love
Let’s make it clear
That this is free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love

I’ve been running like you
I’ve been running like you

Now you understand why I’m running scared
Now you understand why I’m running scared

I’ve been searching for truth
I’ve been searching for truth
And I haven’t been getting anywhere
No I haven’t been getting anywhere

And I’m only here
To bring you free love
Let’s make it clear
That this is free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love

Hey girl
You’ve got to take this moment
Then let it slip away

Let go complicated feelings
Then there’s no price to pay

We’ve been running for love
We’ve been running for love
And we don’t know what we’re doing here
No we don’t know what we’re doing here

And I’m only here
To bring you free love
Let’s make it clear
That this is free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love
No hidden catch
No strings attached
Just free love

1-0. fim do jogo.

Dougie MacLean She Will Find Me

He walks, he does not run
he has no overwhelming need to fly
his heart remains unbroken
no need to search the sky
but me, I've never found that place
I wander recklessly...and

I know that she will find me
I know that she will find me
even if I vanish without trace
oh and though I'm running blindly
I know that she will find me
hiding with the shadows that I chase

No-one can rock his boat
or make standing waves upon his sea
everything is calm and even
steady safe as it can be
but me, I've never found that place
I wander recklessly...but

Sometimes we search too deep
that's when the darkness feeds our fear
we turn away from one another
just in case we get too near
me I stand this mountain top
I shout so she can hear...and

Damien Rice "Silent Night"

Faixa escondida do álbum "O", voz de Lisa Hannigan

Silent night, broken night
All is fallen when you take your flight
I found some hate for you
Just for show
You found some love for me
Thinking I'd go
Don't keep me from crying to sleep
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, moonlit night
Nothing's changed
Nothing is right
I should be stronger than weeping alone
You should be weaker than sending me home
I can't stop you fighting to sleep
Sleep in heavely peace

Caetano Veloso "O Quereres"

Onde queres revólver sou coqueiro
E onde queres dinheiro sou paixão
Onde queres descanso sou desejo
E onde sou só desejo queres não
E onde não queres nada nada falta
E onde voas bem alta eu sou o chão
E onde pisas o chão minha alma salta
E ganha liberdade na amplidão
Onde queres família sou maluco
E onde queres romântico, burguês
Onde queres Leblon sou Pernambuco
E onde queres eunuco, garanhão
Onde queres o sim e o não, talvez
E onde vês eu não vislumbro razão
Onde o queres o lobo eu sou o irmão
E onde queres cowboy eu sou chinês
Ah! bruta flor do querer
Ah! bruta flor, bruta flor
Onde queres o ato eu sou o espírito
E onde queres ternura eu sou tesão
Onde queres o livre, decassílabo
E onde buscas o anjo sou mulher
Onde queres prazer sou o que dói
E onde queres tortura, mansidão
Onde queres um lar, revolução
E onde queres bandido sou herói
Eu queria querer-te amar o amor
Construir-nos dulcíssima prisão
Encontrar a mais justa adequação
Tudo métrica e rima e nunca dor
Ah! bruta flor do querer
Ah! bruta flor, bruta flor
Onde queres comício, flipper-vídeo
E onde queres romance, rock’n roll
Onde queres a lua eu sou o sol
E onde a pura natura, o inseticídio
Onde queres mistério eu sou a luz
E onde queres um canto, o mundo inteiro
Onde queres quaresma, fevereiro
E onde queres coqueiro sou obus
O quereres e o estares sempre a fim
Faz-me querer-te bem, querer-te mal
Bem a ti mal ao quereres assim
Infinitivamente pessoal
E eu querendo querer-te sem ter fim
E, querendo-te, aprender o total
Do querer que há e do que não há em mim

"Tea For Two"

Picture you upon my knee
Just tea for two
And two for tea
Just me for you
And you for me alone
Nobody near us to see us or hear us,
No friends or relations
On weekend vacations,
We won't have it known, dear,
That we own a telephone, dear...

Day will break and you'll wake,
And start to bake a sugar cake
For me to take for all the boys to see.
We will raise a family
A boy for you
And a girl for me
Oh, can't you see how happy we would be...

Eskobar "Good Day For Dying"

I walked around
people passed
the sun went down
it changes fast

and through my days
I've found some ways
to hide my thoughts
but what's the cost
and if I may leave a trace
just pretend.

it's such a good day for dying
but still I've never been crying
so maybe I should be waiting
for god and me to be dating

Mafalda Arnauth "Bendito Fado, Bendita Gente"

Bendita esta forma de vida
por mais estranha que seja
não há outra maior
Bendita a Travessa da Palha
a de uns olhos garotos
onde o fado é só loucura
Bendita essa rosa enjeitada
rosa branca delicada
ó Rosinha dos Limões
Bendito o miúdo da Bica
bem digo a história que fica
no pulsar dos corações

Bendito fado corridinho ou compassado
choradinho ou bem jingado
em desgarrada singular
Bendito fado.
Bendito fado, Bendita gente

Bendita a saudade que trago
que de tanto andar comigo
atravessa a minha dor
Bendito amor que anda inflama
numa teia de enganos
ou feliz qual água que corre
Bendita rua dos meus ciúmes
do silêncio ao desencanto
não há rua mais bizarra,
Benditas vozes que cantam
até que a alma lhes doa
pois foi Deus que as fez assim.

Bendito fado corridinho ou compassado
choradinho ou bem jingado
em desgarrada singular
Bendito fado.
Bendito fado, Bendita gente

Bendita velha tendinha
de uma velha Lisboa
sempre nova e com gadje
Bendita rosa Calé..
Carmenzita linda graça
tão bonita a tua fé
Bendito presente e passado
de mãos dadas num verso
em branco há espera de um futuro
bem digo essas almas que andam
uma vida à procura
de um luar que vem do céu

Bendito fado corridinho ou compassado
choradinho ou bem jingado
em desgarrada singular
Bendito fado.
Bendito fado, Bendita gente

Bendito fado, Bendita gente...

Bendito fado corridinho ou compassado
choradinho ou bem jingado
em desgarrada singular
Bendito fado.
Bendito fado, Bendita gente!

Cuja cabeça sustenta ainda hoje o Ocidente.
O nome Aristóteles - nome Aristóteles - se repetiria
Desde esses tempos até nossos tempos e além.
Ele ensinou o jovem Alexandre a sentir filosofia

O herói enamorado do amor.

Transformou a Macedônia,

O grande Alexandre,
O grande, Alexandre
Conquistou o Egito e a Pérsia
Fundou cidades, cortou o nó górdio, foi grande;
Foi generoso e malvado, magnânimo e cruel;

Morphine "The Night"

You're the night, Lilah. A little girl lost in the woods.
You're a folk tale, the unexplainable

You're a bedtime story. The one that keeps the curtains closed.
I hope you're waiting for me cause I can make it on my own.
I can make it on my own.

It's too dark to see the landmarks. I don't want your good luck charms.
I hope you're waiting for me across your carpet of stars.
You're the night, Lilah. You're everything that we can't see.
Lilah, you're the possibility.

You're the bedtime story. The one that keeps the curtains closed.
And I hope you're waiting for me cause I can make it on my own.
I can make it on my own.

Unknown the unlit world of old. You're the sounds I never heard before.
Off the map where the wild things grow. Another world outside my door.
Here I stand I'm all alone. Drive me down the pitch black road.
Lilah you're my only home and I can't make it on my own.

You're a bedtime story. The one that keeps the curtains closed.
And I hope you're waiting for me cause I can make it on my own.
I can make it on my own.

You're the paint can falling off the wall at the door that slams at the end of the hall where the kid rings sounds of basketball. The battle of the earth of the angels. The shifting snow drifts so realistic, so realistic - call you carpet of stars. See there is something in the yard. It's awful dark. With the painted strings, the cross, the good luck charm, the prayer, the extra layer. The group ???...

Black Eyed Peas feat. Esthero "Weekends"

I called Chad on Wednesday night
So we could make plans for Thursday night
He said "we could go hit the peapods"
I was like yeah, that's my favorite spot
Plus I like it there, cuz I got love on the list
High powered juice, where I don't even get frisked
Walk up in the place and get love from the misses
Pounds from my brothers, cuz they knowing that disses
The place to be to let it all out
But when the weekend come, the weekend come
Y'all could come
So go tell ya momma come and ya papa come
Go to spin the record so we can get dumb
Place packed, capacity maximum
Due to my man Polo Promotion
And I can't wait to go out and hear some

Jumping music, swift D.J.'s
Smoke machines and laser rays
Look out weekend cuz, here I come
Because weekends were, werrrre

Walk in the club at like 10 o' clock
And the spot is hot, blowing up rooftops
Its Thursday night and the night is young
Four day weekend, time to have some fun
D.J.'s scutter up, drop them joints
Everybody's been waiting to dance and make noise
B-Boys, let me see you break it down
And ladies, let your hips move around
Its the sound of the BEP family
Got a poet named Life and a sister Kimy (worrrrd up)
And the blood of Abraham (worrrrd up)
So let's get ready for the jam

Jumping music, swift D.J.'s
Smoke machines and laser rays
Look out weekend cuz, here I come
Because weekends were, werrrre

It was a Thursday night and the party was bumpin'
And the bass was thumpin' and people was jumpin'
And taboo's at the front door comin'
Taboo's at the front door comiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin
and
and (here he come now)
and
nah, nah, nah

Yo, Mister Will.i.am (Mister Will.i.am)
Win or win (Mister Will.i.am)
Get our boogie on when the weekend COME
Check the peapod, cuz the vibes is STRONG

All lined up, and they ready for FUN
Short one's, tall one's, beautiful ONES

The Postal Service "Such Great Heights"

I am thinking it's a sign that the freckles
in our eyes are mirror images and when
we kiss they're perfectly aligned
and I have to speculate that God himself
did make us into corresponding shapes like
puzzle pieces from the clay
true, it may seem like a stretch, but
its thoughts like this that catch my troubled
head when you're away when I am missing you to death
when you are out there on the road for
several weeks of shows and when you scan
the radio, I hope this song will guide you home

they won't see us waving from such great
heights, "come down now," they'll say
but everything looks perfect from far away,
"come down now," but we'll stay...

I tried my best to leave this all on your
machine but the persistent beat it sounded
thin upon listening
that frankly will not fly. you will hear
the shrillest highs and lowest lows with
the windows down when this is guiding you home

Cake "Short Skirt / Long Jacket"

I want a girl with a mind like a diamond
I want a girl who knows what's best
I want a girl with shoes that cut
And eyes that burn like cigarettes

I want a girl with the right allocations
Who's fast and thorough
And sharp as a tack
She's playing with her jewelry
She's putting up her hair
She's touring the facility
And picking up slack

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnng jacket......

I want a girl who gets up early
I want a girl who stays up late
I want a girl with uninterrupted prosperity
Who used a machedy to cut through red tape
With fingernails that shine like justice
And a voice that is dark like tinted glass

She is fast and thorough
And sharp as a tack
She's touring the facility
And picking up slack

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnnng.... lonnng jacket

I want a girl with a smooth liquidation
I want a girl with good dividends
And at the city bank we will meet accidentally
We'll start to talk when she borrows my pen

She wants a car with a cupholder arm rest
She wants a car that will get her there
She's changing her name from Kitty to Karen
She's trading her MG for a white Chrystler Laberan

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnnggggggggg jacket

Doves - Break Me Gently

Walk inside, gets noticed
Fears conspire, they won't go away
And I know, and I see, you'll be breaking hearts again

You break me gently
Break me gently
Break me gently

Break my fall in vain
Pain won't go, rest in peace
And I look, and I see, you could be breaking souls again

And I see me, break me gently
Break me gently
Break me gently

"Doves
Lost Souls
[Astralwerks; 2000]
Rating: 6.8
You know, we music journalists have to contend with a myriad of internal voices while reviewing. There's the simple, straightforward, credulous voice of the listener, who takes bands, songs and packages at face value. As a counter check, there's a savvier, hipper voice that considers music a constructed, made-up thing, sold to us by bands and manufacturers through advertising, press buzz and the ever-enticing promise of press photos. And, finally, there's a purely contrarian voice that plays devil's advocate, finding the easy path and countering it at every turn.

This kind of intrapersonal debating occurs with every release, but rages almost uncontrollably in the instance of a talked-up offering. Because in such a case, it becomes so important to keep oneself from being swept up in embarrassing critical groundswell without dismissing a record that might be good just because someone else likes it. Case in point: Doves' Lost Souls, an album currently coasting on tons of buzz. Follow us as we take a look at three different approaches to reviewing the record, while revealing the secret tricks of the reviewer's game:

Step One: Snappy, Superficial Introduction

Straightforward: While, in the United States, electronic music is considered a new, arty, futuristic medium, it's been a part of the European palette for years. While Underworld seem spacy and abstract on these shores, they're a legit commercial force for our friends across the sea. What's more, techno's such a known quantity across the Atlantic that it's become strictly pro forma for any self-respecting rock band to incorporate a little 808 thud into their rock and roll mix.

Cynical: After the "electronica" "boom" rose and fell like Keith Flint's spiky haircut, all the big fancy record companies-- and the attendant faux-raver acts to whom they'd promised the world-- had to find a way to shore up their losses. Thus, the awkward shotgun marriage of rock to drum machines, resulting in efforts ranging from lovely (Radiohead) to dull (Smash Mouth) to bizarre (Rolling Stones produced by the Dust Brothers). All in all, the experiment can be deemed a bust.

Contrarian: Techno? Techno-rock fusion? Fuck that!

Step Two: Introduce the Band

Straightforward: A good, if somewhat surprising, example of the Euro tech-rock fusion is the debut LP from Doves, Lost Souls. Where most of the fusing has gone on in the rock camp as aging amp-powered dinos struggled for relevance, Doves' effort provides a rare example of techno-schooled musicians digging in the crates for inspiration. Having made their first splash as a straight-ahead club act called Sub Sub, this trio of blokes woodshedded for a long time, started playing anachronistic instruments you strummed, plucked and hit, and ended up with a collection of damn-near-normal rock songs. Of course, the tincture of their throbbing house-kid past lurks in the shadows all the same.

Cynical: The latest group of cred-hungry beat monsters to cross this writer's desk are Doves, a frustratingly non-capitalized or articled threesome from the UK. Their record's got everything written in lowercase, there's a lot of noiry photos of a boxer, and the damn thing is called Lost Souls, all of which reeks of art (or, perhaps more aptly, "ahhht"). Scowling in front of a cityscape, clad in flannel, and sporting ridiculous stubblefields on their faces, Doves look like they're running as hard as they can from their bow as Sub Sub. There's a reason the single they released under that moniker never made it stateside, and I'm sure it had everything to do with the description "M People-esque," which appeared in the press kit.

Contrarian: Hairy, serious-looking songwriter types from England? Fuck that!

Step Three: Flailingly Desperate Attempt to Describe the Record

Straightforward: Lost Souls is nothing if not a sprawling, ambitious effort. Padded for U.S. arrival with three bonus tracks, the disc stretches out to more than 72 minutes, and I'll be damned if it isn't a solid, engaging effort throughout. Where the increased running time of a CD is usually more beast than beauty, the breathing room allows Doves to stretch out. Few of these tracks weigh in under the five-minute mark, and most of their durations are given over to jangling acoustic guitars and mid-tempo rhythms that, in places, resemble Mogwai's moments of plaintive contemplation.

Tonally, Lost Souls reflects the after-after-midnight hours, as if the boys felt the need to document the hung over and blissed-out aftermath of the dancing-hours frenzy their Sub Sub days offered listeners years ago. That rarest of animals, a singing drummer named Andy Williams, wails discontentedly and virtually wordlessly over swelling and receding musical themes, while atmospheric keyboards and ominous samplework provide texture the barebones acoustic arrangements wouldn't achieve on their own.

Cynical: The heart of the problem on Lost Souls is its overreaching ambition. Naming the first track-- the virtually instrumental "Firesuite"-- after the famous four-song suite from the Beach Boys' Smile sessions gives it away instantly. Doves are, in both their tilting and endlessly sculpted sounds, after the same instrumental evocations Brian Wilson made and destroyed at the peak of his compositional powers. In most principle respects, this album is straight, rockist Brit-pop. But the samples and keyboards serve only to dress up fairly conventional songs, as if to conceal their pedestrian nature.

Contrarian: More Brian Wilson name-checking? Fuck that!

Step Four: Track-by-Track Highlights and Lowlights

Straightforward: Lost Souls, despite its reach and ambition, works best in its most conventionally melodic moments. The aptly named "Melody Calls" juxtaposes a typically languid vocal against an uncharacteristically jaunty guitar riff, and the result is a little radio-ready wonder. Similarly, the title cut's deep, throbbing chords work as this melancholy work's catalytic center, distilling the band's mixture of atmosphere and song down to a kind of essence.

Among the more adventurous tracks, "Firesuite" and "Break Me Gently" work best because of their carefully planned development and the skillful use of heavily effected vocals, which flesh out what could have been almost Dave Matthews-sized swaths of dull 'jamming.' But the stately ballad at the end of the album proper, "A House," accentuates the songiness of this effort. These boys are interested in beauty, power, emotion and feeling. Not idle wanking.

Cynical: Hey! He stole my stuff! Punk.

Contrarian: Emotion and feeling?! Fuck that!

Step Five: Summation

Straightforward: Despite its excesses, Lost Souls offers a novel twist on the electronics-plus-rock-equals-fun-for-trainspotters equation. The tech-rock fusion isn't dead in the water yet.

Cynical: Okay, fine. Even Brits can do something decent from time to time.

Contrarian: Fuck England!

Step Six: The Rating

Straightforward: 7.3

Cynical: 6.2

Contrarian: Fuck numbers!
